Water
Water, the oil of this century, has always been an important factor in forming the landscape of Belgian Limburg. Hence the decision to use water as the central theme for a project series on which designers, companies and knowledge centres collaborate. And although the first collaborations took place in Belgian Limburg, the project is not limited to this region.
- TAP WATER Water out of the tap is perfectly drinkable. It's even cheaper, healthier and wiser to use tap water instead of bottled water. REcentre wants to promote this message. Read more on drinKraantjeswater.
- MINE WATER Together with all the parties involved, REcentre wants to valorize the surface water that collects on the ground because of mining activities and settlement. Eisden, Leut, Stokkem, Zolder, Beringen, Genk and As, are all cities in Belgian Limburg where the water is pumped up in order to preserve the landscape. To make sure that this precious water no longer goes to waste, REcentre stimulates the research into the valorization of water resources.
- OTHER WATER PROJECTS In the years to come, REcentre will develop more water related themes. For instance, by initiating an action that focuses on the use of water fountains in public spaces, or by promoting products and processes that recycle household water, rainwater, ground or source water, and wastewater. For water is the new oil.
- LAB’EAU
lab'eau is a new dynamic approach for water projects in the Belgian Limburg region, developed by REcentre. Within the framework of lab'eau all interested parties define problem cases that need researching, with the aim to find solutions and create new concepts.
REcentre selects the designers who conduct the research in an open or closed format and uses its expertise to ask sustainability experts for assistance. This open approach and working method, guided by a moderator selected by REcentre, must lead to useful results and feedback for all the involved partners. The results will be published at a later stage.
Questions must yield answers. That is exactly why REcentre collaborates with (inter)national parties who share an interest in supporting lab’eau. Limburg.net, VMW, BBL, the Province of Limburg, Living Green, Vlaamse Landmaatschappij, and LRM are partners REcentre wants to work with on the water projects.
